Multiple applications

Geometric Measurement
The volume data generated by RayScan include the geometric information on the complete test object. Therefore they are a valuable tool for dimensional checks of invisible or inaccessible areas. Wall thicknesses, distances, borings, radii or angles can be measured for all internal structures. The same method is applied to measurement of faults. Geometric measurement can be carried out in arbitrary oriented 2D-slice images or in 3D-volume.

Geometric Comparison
RayScan offers the possibility to convert Voxel data into surface data. Due to this feature any plane inside the test object can be displayed and used for comparison with CAD data. The CT-results can be placed over the CAD data for the complete volume in order to obtain a set value - actual value comparison. This procedure determines the deviations for each location in the volume, displaying them numerically as well as colour coded. The user is free to set tolerances. This is the only non-destructive method for variance comparison of components with complex internal structures.

Cooperation with Zeiss
RayScan opens an enormous potential for geometric measurement. In order to take full advantage of this possibility, Wälischmiller has entered into a long-term cooperation contract with Zeiss Industrial Metrology, Oberkochen. The cooperation includes sales, application and development of CT-aided metrology. The first main emphasis was to put on an application system, available for customer measurements in the service center of the Carl Zeiss 3D Metrology Services Ltd. at Aalen.
